- Participate in client needs analysis and project definition;
- Coordinate with stakeholders such as utilities, vendors and contractors;
- Contribute to all project phases and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, defined scope, timelines and budget;
- Design industrial, clean and plant utilities/HVAC/plumbing/steam/compressed air/chilled water/refrigeration;
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications and technical reports;
- Produce drawings in AutoCAD and Revit for Building Permit, Tender and Construction;
- Prepare specifications and tender packages for equipment and installation;
- Carry out assignments on multi-disciplinary project design teams;
- Undertake drawings of Process Utilities, Mechanical, and Plumbing;
- Ensure the quality of design, drawings and graphics work produced for the team;
- Obtain proposals from and follow-up with suppliers and contractors;
- Review shop drawings for compliance & participate in development of engineering standards;
- Supervise equipment installation, start-up, commissioning and qualification;
- Partner with cross functional project team members;
- Visit and survey project sites for project related activities;
- Conduct work in accordance with Laporte Professional Practice Management Plan guidelines;
- Support business development activities.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Registered with PEO as an engineer in good standing;
- 5-8 years of experience in building HVAC, plumbing and drainage, refrigeration, utilities, fire protection, steam and hot/cold water system design;
- Solid knowledge of mechanical codes and standards including ASHRAE and NFPA;
- Excellent skills in technical support and troubleshooting;
- Flexibility to travel;
- Consulting experience is an asset.
