Piping Designer / CAD Technologist

This position is offer in Burnaby (BC), Calgary (AB), Saskatoon (SK)

Responsibilities and duties:

As part of an integrated project team, you will be reporting to the Director of the Industrial group, this position includes a broad range of consulting tasks. Candidates will be asked to perform the following:

  • Be exposed to manufacturing systems and processes for the handling of materials and manufacturing of industrial and agri-food products;
  • Use CADD (Autocad / Plant3D / Revit 3D) to draft manufacturing and packaging systems, process and piping systems, utilities and HVAC systems;
  • Control quality, manage compliance of drawings on the basis of Laporte standards;
  • Coordinate with other CAD resources and drawing needs for all disciplines;
  • Turn rough models, ideas, sketches, and/or concepts into design drawings;
  • Conceptualize and create designs and convert into a CAD design;
  • Ensure the design schedule is followed, on a daily basis, in order to meet customer requirements;
  • Utilize sense of urgency in meeting all design schedules;
  • Have intimate knowledge of, and contribute to the improvement of Laporte CAD operation, CAD standards and Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) standards, and coordinate them with other Laporte offices;

Key Requirements:

  • Technologist degree;
  • Possess above average to excellent Autodesk proficiency;
  • Must have creative design talent including layout and experience in 2D/3D Designs;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, with previous manufacturing and process support experience in the food and beverage, biopharmaceutical or medical device industry an asset;
  • Automation systems knowledge an asset;
  • Knowledge in a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques an asset;
  • Familiarity with food safety an asset;
  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding customer and company designs;
  • Must present self in a professional manner and maintain a positive attitude towards others;
  • Must be able to work in a controlled environment.

Skills:

  • Technical expertise in AutoCAD, Revit and/or Plant 3D;
  • Sense of initiative and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment.
