Electrical Engineer – Toronto, Ontario

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design of:
    • Medium voltage distribution
    • Low voltage distribution
    • Emergency backup systems (generator and/or UPS)
    • Grounding
    • Fire alarm
    • Lighting and lighting controls
    • Security/data/phone
  • Process electrical and automation power and control requirements
  • Modeling and analyzing electrical power systems using SKM PowerTools™.
  • Modelling and design in AutoCAD and Revit;
  • Perform protection co-ordination, short circuit analysis, load flow analysis and arc flash hazard studies.
  • Writing and reviewing equipment, tender and installation specifications.
  • Coordination with and supervision of other members of project team.
  • Field reviews and field review reports.
  • Construction and equipment procurement follow-up.
  • Support during start-up and commissioning.
  • Interpreting engineering specifications, resolving design and field engineering difficulties d coordinating work schedules;
  • Conducting technical research related to electrical systems;
  • Co-ordinating with equipment manufacturers and suppliers;
  • Supporting development of construction cost estimates;
  • Reviewing shop drawings for conformity with equipment specifications;
  • Supporting positive client interactions and business development activities;
  • Mentoring others and providing training.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary design team.

 

Key Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical engineering
  • Current registration with PEO as a EIT or P.Eng.
  • Professional work experience as an Electrical Engineer consultant in the agri-food, pharmaceutical or food and beverage industries.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is a must.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experienced in leading and managing design projects, proposals, on-site commissioning, and/or power system studies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local, Provincial and National regulations and standards related to electrical design.
  • Good knowledge of electrical utility standards and design criteria.
