Electrical Estimator/FSR – Burnaby, BC

As part of an integrated project team, the Electrical Estimator/FSR will report to the Lead Electrical Engineer. They will be asked to perform the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Participating in electrical design and constructability reviews for the following:
    • Medium voltage electrical transformation and distribution systems
    • Low voltage electrical distribution systems
    • Small power
    • Lighting
    • Emergency and Exit lighting
    • Fire alarm
    • Grounding
    • Emergency backup systems (Generator, UPS)
  • Interpreting engineering specifications, resolving design and field engineering difficulties and coordinating work schedules;
  • Developing, coordinating and preparing project specifications;
  • Co-ordinating with equipment manufacturers and suppliers;
  • Supporting development of construction cost estimates;
  • Supporting the electrical team with electrical designs and specifications that optimise installation cost;
  • Coordination and execution of construction administration activities;
  • Reviewing shop drawings for conformity with equipment specifications;
  • Supporting positive client interactions and business development activities;
  • Mentoring junior E.I.T.’s and providing training;
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary design team.

Key Requirements:

  • Graduation from a recognised Electrical Trade School with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in electrical contracting and estimation;
  • Current registration or eligibility to register as a Class A FSR in BC;
  • Professional Engineer designation in BC would be an asset;
  • Professional work experience as an electrician and estimator for projects in the agri-food, pharmaceutical or food and beverage industries. Industrial Automation experience would be an asset.  Other industry experience may be considered depending on skills and experience;
  • Strong oral and written communications skills with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to travel to project sites (primarily located in the lower mainland with fewer locations outside B.C.);
  • Experienced in leading and managing electrical installation projects, proposals, on-site commissioning, and/or power system studies in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong knowledge of local, Provincial and National regulations and standards related to electrical design;
  • Good knowledge of electrical utility standards and design criteria.
