Laporte Engineering offers a COOP position in its Toronto Office to begin in January 2023:

Accounts Receivable/Payable Clerk (12 Month Contract) – Toronto, Ontario

Position Summary

You will assist and support with the day to day accounting process and ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and Provincial legislation and Laporte company policy.

Responsibilities:

Receivables:

  • Participate in the billing process
  • Prepare clients invoices and match them with proposal and PO.
  • Prepare expense invoicing and match with expense reports, sub-contractors,
  • credit statement and receipts.
  • Enter approved A/P Invoices and expense reports in the accounting system.
  • Process and track all project related billings to clients
  • Generate reports and investigate on:
    • project profitability
    • project variances
    • remaining funding available for projects
  • Maintain accurate AR aging reports (month end processing)

Payables:

  • Review payables received emails and hardcopies.
  • Review incoming vendors invoices and provide payment.
  • Review and get proper approvals on subs invoices and provide payment.
  • Print cheques, attach invoices so signing officers can review and sign.

Filing and Collection:

  • Maintain well organized Payables/Receivable records, both electronic and physical.
  • Make A/R collection calls and follow up to completion.

Reports Generation:

  • Prepare project profitability and variance reports.
  • Review and monitor payables/receivables aging reports.
  • Provide AR/AP and financial reports to management as required.
  • Prepare remaining funding available for projects.

Other responsibilities to be assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • Pursuing a College or University  diploma in accounting and related courses is preferred.
  • Accounting related experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record.

  • Sense of organization, discipline and task prioritization.
