Electrical Engineer – Vancouver

 

Responsibilities:

As part of an integrated project team, you will report to the Lead Electrical Engineer, and will be asked to perform the following:

  • Electrical Engineering design:
    • Medium voltage interconnection and substation
    • Medium and low voltage distribution
    • Emergency backup systems (ATS, generator, UPS)
    • Base building electrical engineering design including
      • Low voltage power distribution
      • Lighting and lighting controls
      • Fire alarm
      • Data and communication systems integration
      • Security systems integration
      • Installation details and specifications
  • Power system studies
    • Grounding
    • Short circuit and load flow
    • Protection coordination
    • Arc flash
    • SKM modelling
  • Project engineering
    • Project management
    • Utility coordination
    • Municipal permitting
    • AutoCAD/Revit drafting
    • Design packages
    • Equipment specifications
    • Tender packages
    • Engineering field reviews
    • Construction, startup and commissioning support

 

In this position, you will be working semi-independently, managing your own project, reporting your progress periodically to the team lead, but also requesting additional help and drawing on the expertise of your colleagues when required.

 

This is a customer facing role. You are a good communicator with a particular ability to showcase your work. You excel in explaining complex engineering concepts to non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding. Your strong oral and written communication skills enable you to effectively convey ideas, provide detailed documentation, and interact confidently with clients and stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical engineering degree;
  • 5 to 10 years direct experience in interconnection and base building design required;
  • Current registration with the provincial engineering association (BC);
  • Experience in consulting engineering in agrifood , food and beverage industries an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria.
  • Able to make regular trips to the customers’ place of business.

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 per year.
